Aurora Borealis

Part of the METAMORPHOSIS project. The technique used to created this gown is a variation on chenille embroidery; multiple layers of fabric are sewn through and then cut and frayed to create this feathered look. The organic lines and the transparent areas mean to convey a sense of movement and flow in the character as she is the embodiment of the northern lights. Clusters of beading and crystals cling to the bared areas on the dress.
